WatchWatch
found on tmblg: “On my night time flight back to SF from Amsterdam, I noticed that the lights from cities were making the clouds glow. Really spectacular and ethereal - it was really seeing the impact of urban environments from a different perspective. Each glow or squiggle represents one town or city! Luckily the flight was half empty, so I was able to set up an improvised stabilizer...

$3 lightbulb is brighter, cheaper, safer than any... →
If everyone switched to these, they wouldn’t have to change their bulbs for decades, eliminate dangerous metal usage, and cut worldwide power consumption up to 20%. What are we waiting for?

Obama’s Dept. of Treasury says “no freakin’ way” to Citi’s decision to buy a $50 million private jet with TARP (bailout) money. It would have been a different story eight days ago, eh?

Most dangerous, high-profile Mac virus in recent...
For those of you who think that OSX/Mac is completely virus-proof, think again. Now, this virus really is only a risk if you go around downloading torrents of pirated software, so for most of the Mac users out there, this won’t be a problem. HOWEVER, do take this as a sobering reminder of basic internet fact #2456: If you download software from anywhere other than the developer (and even...

Whitehouse.gov: Change is in the air
The most amazing thing about this morning in the non-speech category, was what was happening online while everyone was watching TV. If you haven’t already, go look at the new WhiteHouse.gov. It is just a website, true, but the scope of this change is extremely significant, all things considered. For one, you should read the site mission statement - the objectives of the President, his...

Spirit Airlines looking to bilk two water-landing... →
This is the utter definition of classy. They got put on US Airways 1549 by Spirit in the first place, and unsurprisingly, didn’t complete their trip. Now the airline wants an unused ticket fee. Ugh.

$30/13 month Xbox Live subscription card
Right now, Amazon is offering the best price I’ve ever seen on the 1-year + 1 bonus month Xbox Live card. A must have if you have a 360, and the best deal I’ve ever seen.

Seagate 7200.11 hard drives dropping like flies →
The only HD I’ve ever had fail on me was a Seagate. A Maxtor came close once too. This is why I only ever buy Western Digital HD’s; I’ve been running them for eight years now without a single drive failure. Some great bargains for laptop and desktop replacements/upgrades - both work lovely in Mac/PC boxes and laptops (including MacBook & MacBook Pro).

Dumb but useful product endorsement: Clevercat...
It seems like a silly thing to write about, but if you have a cat, you may find this useful. More importantly, if you have a cat and you are not crazy about the fact that you have a cat, this may (as it was for me) minimize the amount of annoyance associated with the presence of the less-than-desired feline. The Clevercat Top Entry Litterbox is a gee-duh idea that is well executed, simple,...
