Gamers: don’t hate the environment; save money

Just a quick hack to save time, money, and frustration. Nearly every controller for new consoles requires AA batteries: Wii remotes, the Wii balance board, Xbox controllers, Rock Band/Guitar Hero Instruments - basically everything but the PS3 controllers.

Batteries are nasty things chemically, and using disposables and constantly throwing them out is environmentally awful. And expensive. And constantly has you running to the corner store. And, they don’t last that long anyhow.

So, get yourself some long-lasting, charge-retaining, and infinitely rechargeable batteries. I recommend Sony or Sanyo, the Cycle Energy or Eneloop brand. I’d get a bunch of these (or in an 8-pack), and a refresh-capable recharger. It makes dollars and cents.

Wow.

OnLive Streaming Game service launched

OnLive allows for streaming of server-side gaming to your PC, Mac or TV. This removes platform barriers, hardware requirements, and only requires an (uncapped) broadband connection.

Could be great, could be a disaster. We all need to know more first. Here’s a hands on impression to get us started.
