Obama makes Apollo mission like like drop in bucket

He did it :)

“We will devote more than three percent of our GDP to research and development… This represents the largest commitment to scientific research and innovation in American history.” - Prez Obama

The president has pledged the largest chunk of change in US history (more than even during the space race) to science and engineering. Mostly to innovating new energy technologies. This is on par with (and actually surpasses) what Kennedy did with the Apollo space missions, and could be one of the most important scientific undertakings in our lifetime. Potentially, this could take a big bite out of unclean energy, reduce dependence on foreign oil significantly, and give us many jobs and many, many amazing gadgets to play with for ages to come. We’re still enjoying the techno-riches of the space race, after all.
